For years, my work across major media companies and large organizations has given me a window into all types of workers—and a deep belief that work transcends so many of the issues that seem to divide us. At the end of the day, the CEO and the janitor and the middle manager have more in common at work and home than they ever realize. We're all connected, even when it feels like we might be adrift alone.
The catalyst for these stories was the death of my beloved Shiba Inu, Kenji. When our quiet walks vanished, pockets of time to write fiction appeared, capturing the small moments of grace and connection that happen in the most ordinary places. My stories are about the people we encounter every day—the hotel attendant, the crossing guard, the physical therapist—and the surprising ways their lives intersect with our own.
My debut short story collection is Before the Sink Overflows (and Other Warning Signs of Hope).
I live in New York with my wife and teenage son, and I'm currently writing a novel.
