For years, my work across major media companies and large organizations has given me a front-row seat to the human side of work. The CEO, the janitor, and the middle manager? It’s all the same shit. We’re all connected, even when it feels like we’re adrift alone.
When my Shiba Inu, Kenji, died, I needed to fill the loss. So I took the time I would have spent on him and wrote fiction for the first time in a long time. The result is my debut short story collection, Before the Sink Overflows (and Other Warning Signs of Hope)—stories about small moments of connection in the most ordinary places. The crossing guard, the hotel attendant, the physical therapist, and the surprising ways their lives intersect with our own.
I live in New York with my wife and teenage son. I’m currently writing a novel set on a quiet suburban block where a winning lottery ticket ricochets through interconnected lives, revealing what was already there beneath the surface.
